Michelle has been selected as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star. During Michelle’s many years of legal experience, she clerked for the Hawaii State Office of the Attorney General, Education Division, and the Judiciary, Staff Attorney Office. She also worked as an education site manager at Hickam, Air Force Base, Hawaii. While attending law school, Michelle served as a law clerk for The Carlberg Law Firm and upon graduation from Law School, as an associate Attorney. Additionally, Michelle is an Adjunct Professor for Hawaii Pacific University teaching a range of courses including Introduction to American Political Processes, Public Personnel Management, Political Ideologies, and Public Administration. She is a competition runner, has completed two marathons, and competes in triathlons. She resides in Northern Virginia, enjoys other outdoor activities as well as attending the theater in Washington, DC.

Weyinmi A. Shekoni, Associate Attorney

Weyinmi A. Shekoni is an Associate Attorney at the Hopkins Law Firm. She previously worked at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a contractor with Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs, where she handled and settled administrative claims pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act, specifically property damage and personal injury claims. Ms. Shekoni worked as a Contractor with the Stone Turn Group reviewing documents pertaining to the compliance of a corporation’s activities with company policy and the federal law. She also worked with the Sentencing Project, where she was able to conduct research and analyze data on the racial disparity with regards to felons sentenced to life with or without parole for non-violent drug offenses. Ms. Shekoni has represented clients in worker’s compensation dispute cases.
She received her Bachelor of Art in International Studies with a minor in Business Administration from Abilene Christian University. Ms. Shekoni received a Master of Art in International Commerce and Policy with her focus specifically on Global Trade from George Mason University. She received her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law with specific focus on Litigation, Intellectual Property and Trade Law. In her free time, Ms. Shekoni likes to spend time with her family, travel, read historical British novels, and watch movies. She is licensed to practice in Virginia.

Lindsay Sampson joined the Hopkins Law Firm in 2016. Lindsay began her legal career with a Fairfax County criminal law firm in June 2014 as a legal assistant, receptionist, and office manager. Lindsay graduated from Penn Foster College in May 2015 with an associate’s degree in paralegal studies, suma cum laude. Additionally, Lindsay was on the dean’s list and was a member of the Delta Epsilon Tau honor society at Penn Foster College. She is also a licensed notary public in Virginia. Lindsay provides personal, high quality assistance to our clients. Lindsay lives in Gainesville with her husband and pets. Her hobbies include caring for her pets, knitting dog sweaters for her Etsy shop Little Paws Knitting, baking, hiking, reading, and kayaking.

Sydney Remaily  joined The Hopkins Law Firm in 2019. She graduated from James Madison University in May 2019 with a Bachelors in Arts in Political Science. She assists both Michelle and the firm’s associate attorneys in legal matters and works to provide the best outcome for all clients. Sydney supports clients and the legal team through communication, research, and drafting documents. She is originally from Philadelphia but fell in love with the DMV area and decided to stay. Sydney loves to help people and for this reason she was drawn to family law. Outside of the office, she likes to spend time with her Olde English bulldog named Patsy, read non-fiction books, and cook.

Brenna Doane joined The Hopkins Law Firm in April, 2018. Brenna’s legal career began in January, 2000 working for a law firm based in Baltimore, Maryland specializing in creditor representation, bankruptcy, and real estate. Brenna came to The Hopkins Law Firm with 15 years of professional legal industry and supervisory experience. She handles a myriad of tasks for the firm which include client/attorney scheduling, client services/reception, preparing and filing legal documents, file maintenance, third party vendor coordination, general attorney support, and is a licensed Virginia Notary. She obtained her Paralegal Certificate in 2016 at Lord Fairfax Community College. Her hobbies include singing, attending live theater and live music.

Bella is a 6-year old Boxer who accompanies Michelle to the office on most days.  She alerts the office whenever anyone enters and promptly guards Michelle’s feet under her desk.  She loves children and women, but isn’t as fond of the postman, FEDEX or UPS delivery persons.
